Thursday, Feb. 16, is your opportunity to find out why I have a heart for BSA! We are hosting an open house from 2 to 6 pm to showcase the mission and ministry of Blessed Sacrament Academy. If you are reading this, you are already familiar with the program I lead, the Parents' Academy. Since 1994, we have enriched the lives of thousands of families with understanding, encouragement and support in the life journey called parenting.
This is your chance to learn more about WHY I came to BSA over 26 years ago...well before Parents' Academy was established, to serve as director of the BSA Child Development Center. It all started with connection- a connection that shaped the course of my life, my career and my family.
When I first came to San Antonio as part of a volunteer program, I was mentored as a first year teacher by the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament sisters at St. Leo's on the southside. As Sr. Odilia Korenek and the other sisters shared their dedication and mission, I built my skills as an educator and leader. 11 years later, after teaching 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 6th grade, that connection would call me once more.
When Sr. Odilia invited me in 1990 to work with her once again in the new programs opening at Blessed Sacrament Academy, I happily accepted the challenge. As the sisters reshaped the programs to best meet the needs of the community, early childhood services and a
"second chance" high school became their focus. The Parents' Academy was added in 1994. Fast forward to 2017, and these three programs have served thousands of children, teens and families, helping them build success in learning and life.
Join us on campus this Thursday afternoon to see firsthand why BSA has my heart and the heart of countless others. For over 90 years, BSA has served the community with heart. Come and see what we are doing now at the BSA Child Development Center, Por Vida Academy Charter High School and the Parents' Academy. Meet Sr. Odilia and Sr. Stephanie Marie and the other sisters who continue to serve, giving all they have to build a stronger community.
We need YOU to help us get the word out about our mission and ministry. Our programs are all about building connections and strengthening relationships. We want to connect with you! Tours, refreshments, fellowship and fun await... Call 532-4731 for more information.
